First prize for Teresa Frączkiewicz-Kirkov

The jury of the composers' competition - held within the Legnica Cantat Choir Competition - chaired by prof. Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil honored Teresa Frąkiewicz-Kirkov for Psalm 150 for mixed choir, marimba, kettle-drums and bells. The piece was performed by Academic Choir of the Warsaw University of Technology - Dariusz Zimnicki (conductor), Leszek Lorent and Rafał Kozyra (percussion) on the final concert (27.05.2017).
  
The winners of the competition are also: Michał Sołtysik for Usque aad finem (2nd prize), Piotr Beciński for the Prayer to the Mother of God (3rd prize) and Ewa Zuchowicz for Meadow and Grzegorz Miśkiewicz for the song To St. Joseph (ex aequo). It is worth mentioning that last year in Legnica Teresa Frączkiewicz-Kirkov won the 2nd Prize for Stabat Mater.

In a few weeks Publishing House EUTERPE will publish Characteristic Sketches by Teresa Frączkiewicz-Kirkov - 10 miniatures for harpsichord or piano, which can be treated as a cycle or as a combination of pieces selected on the basis of similarity or contrast. The first sketches were written in 2009 and performed by the students of the harpsichord class of Marta Pisarska during the meeting with Elżbieta Chojnacka in Cracow.
